About the Artist
I've always been a creative person, though it took time—and life—for me to fully pursue it. I studied painting and drawing at the Vidal M. Treviño School of Fine Arts in high school, where I first developed my technical foundation and love for portraiture. When I left for college, I chose to pursue something else—but I found my way back to painting during holiday breaks, when the pace slowed and I could reconnect with it on my own terms.
I started painting portraits more intentionally shortly before my dad passed away during my senior year of college. What began as a way to process and connect has grown into something deeper.
My work is influenced by high-detail photography—images that invite you to pause and notice what’s usually overlooked. Sometimes I come across a photo and feel an immediate urge to make it bigger. I don’t always know why. I just know I want to hold onto it longer, to sit with it, to find something inside it that deserves more space. Painting gives me that opportunity.
Over the past few years, I’ve been learning more about myself through this practice. As I’ve carved out more time to paint, I’ve watched my work evolve and take on its own voice. Some of my earliest pieces are shown here, alongside newer work that reflects where I am now—and where I’m still headed.
I am based in Laredo, Texas, and I am currently open to commissions.
